Rabeprazole sodium is a medicine that decreases the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It is used for treating acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and a few other stomach conditions related to excessive acid production. This tablet is also used to prevent stomach ulcers and acidity that may be seen with the prolonged use of pain-killers. It belongs to a category of medicines referred to as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
Active duodenal ulcer

Symptomatic erosive or ulcerative gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD)
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease long-term management (GORD maintenance)

Rabeprazole sodium tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It acts by reducing the amount of acid within the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

Regular checkups are advised for patients on long-term treatment (particularly those treated for more than a year).
A risk of cross-hypersensitivity reactions with substituted benzimidazoles can't be excluded.
Patients should be cautioned that these tablets shouldn't be chewed or crushed, but should be swallowed whole.
It is contradicted to be hypersensitive to the active substance, substituted benzimidazoles or to any of the excipients.
