Amoxycillin + Dicloxacillin is a combination of two antibiotics: Amoxycillin and Dicloxacillin. The combination work by preventing the formation of the bacterial cell wall which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Together, they treat your infection effectively.

Ear Infection
Throat infection
Genitourinary tract infection
Lower respiratory tract infection
Bacterial sinusitis
Community acquired pneumonia
H. pylori

Amoxicillin: Amoxicillin is a penicillin G derivative and is a cell wall synthesis inhibitor with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. Amoxicillin has a long half-life and can be given twice daily and has a wide therapeutic index. Amoxicillin stops glycosyltransferase and transpeptidase reactions by completely inhibiting penicillin-binding protein 1 that lead to cross-linking of D-alanine and D-aspartic acid in bacterial cell walls. By preventing this linkage, bacterial cell will unable to build and repair the cell wall, leading to bacteriocidal action.

Dicloxacillin is a beta-lactamase resistant penicillin similar to oxacillin. Dicloxacillin acts as bactericidal against penicillin-susceptible microorganisms when they are in multiplication state. Dicloxacillin binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) present inside the bacterial cell wall and inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, later autolytic enzymes such as autolysins initiate the cell lysis ultimately leading to cell death.

Bioavailability of amoxicillin is approximately 60%. Volume of distribution of amoxicillin is 27.7L. Amoxicillin is 17% protein bound in serum. It is metabolised in liver by microsomal enzymes. 70-78% eliminated in the urine. Half-life of amoxicillin is 61.3 minutes
Dicloxacillin: After oral administration, the absorption is rapid but variable: peak blood levels are achieved in 1-1.5 hours. Binds to serum protein, mainly albumin. It is rapidly excreted in unchanged foem through urine by glomerular filtration and active tubular secretion. Half-life for dicloxacillin is about 0.7 hour.

Diarrhea
Stomach upset
Headache
Abnormal taste sense
Skin rash
Maculopapular rash (rare but serious)

Dicloxacillin increases the metabolism of Amiodarone, Aminophylline
The excretion rate of Aclidinium, Acrivastine may decrease when combined with Amoxicillin which could result in a higher serum level.
